And in this regard, designers are assumed to have a better knack of understanding the need of the hour when it comes to fashion. The hip, the cool, the chic or the trendy — they have it all. Today, fashion is not confined to the industry of models and designers alone.

Lights… camera… music… and breathtaking beauties sashaying down the red carpet - enough to set the stage on fire! We are talking about the “inked - jd annual fashion design awards, 2007 ”. The event was held at ITA, Pragjyoti centre, Guwahati. Inaugurated by Her Excellency, the First Lady of Assam, Mrs. Krishna Singh and choreographed by Dipankar Kashyap and Amit Pandey from Kolkata, the inked fashion awards evening was a fusion of glitz and glamour.

A flash of hues blending the intrinsic ethnicities of the various Northeastern cultures – can be a subtle attempt to phrase, the collections of fashion designer Dipankar Kashyap. One of the earliest to arrive on the fashion scene of the Northeast, Dipankar has made his mark in the glamorous realm of Indian fashion. He has experimented with different styles in his collections, accentuating on the palette as his primary tool. And he has been designing costumes for Assamese films as well.
